Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. John 4:23 (NIV)
I believe that God gives us beautiful lyrics & melodies to honor Him, but also to remind us of the truth of who He is, and to help us experience His life-changing presence. For it is in His presence where our hearts and minds are transformed, where our focus is turned to Him instead of ourselves as we offer our worship out of grateful hearts, and it is in His presence where we learn to receive His love, filling us to overflowing.
In order to get to this place of infilling, we need to be God-seekers, daily spending time with Him through prayer, praise, and reading His Word. Just imagine how powerful corporate worship on Sundays could be if the body of Christ as a whole would grasp this. I believe that our (private and corporate) times spent in His presence open the door for the Holy Spirit to pour out His anointing, empowering us to be true worshipers of God - to be demonstrators of His kindness and compassion - to be extensions of Christ along our journey. The Father is looking for us to spill the "overflow" into those around us. He is looking for us to live our lives as our acts of worship - to glorify Him through all our deeds, through all our words, with all our lives.
Recently I read that when Mother Theresa was asked what worship meant to her, she said, "Find the least and treat them as you would treat the Lord". In as much as you have done it to the least of these, my brethren, you have done it to Me." Matthew 25:40 (KJV)
The time is now. With reverence, in total recognition of who God is, and in the truth of His Word, the time has come for each of us to worship the Father for the most precious gift of His Son, Jesus, through our words and deeds. We are all called to be worshipers - with all that is within us, even in the secret places of our hearts......with our whole lives.
